About our (virtual) Bakery

Since 2010, Marc's Double Oven was a locally-owned bakery on Mackinac Island, Michigan, specializing in morning pastries, homemade cinnamon rolls, and fresh coffee.

Now, in response to changing circumstances, the retail bakery operation has been closed for the 2017 season. Marc’s Double Oven will soon become a “virtual” bakery with a small licensed physical bake house on the island and online product sales only. This transition will be completed on or before the Fourth of July 2017!

Moreover, Marc’s Double Oven is in the process of conversion to a Michigan L3C company so that it can leverage its expertise and production capabilities to assist in local efforts to reduce food insecurity in Michigan’s Eastern Upper Peninsula. When the changeover from retail to online is complete, Marc’s Double Oven will begin its 1:1 initiative: Every online purchase of baked goods will be matched item-for-item and donated fresh to area agencies and entities devoted to food distribution and childhood hunger mitigation.

Meet our Baker

Our proprietor and head baker is a 40-year Island resident and former Island school teacher who started making homemade canine treats for the neighborhood dogs over a decade ago. What began as a hobby soon evolved into "people" food - breads, cookies, cinnamon rolls - and in 2009 his bakery became a popular downtown business.
